OUGD501 - Development

I decided to use French as the basis of my posters. I have used French throughout all my developments because it relates back to the May 1968 posters. Another factor is that if you saw a poster of this sort and wanted to understand what it meant you would get your phone (or other technology) and translate it online therefore, using technology whilst my message goes against technology. Therefore creating an ironic poster that uses reverse psychology to get you to get off your technology by showing you how much technology you use.

The  poster is showing how we are transforming from humans to telephones. The image shows a sketch of a man who is standing proud whilst the other half is an Iphone. The text says ‘Stop controlling me’ as I believe a lot of technology is controlling how people behave.

This is a poster that I would like to develop further. The text says ‘stop with the technology’ in bold italic writing to make it eye catching. The speech marks are meant to represent how little we speak with each other as the text above and below (the speech marks) are a lot bigger. After asking a few of my peers I was advised to continue with this poster design as it related the most to the May 1968 posters.

The final poster shows an outline of a phone hanging a man. The text over it says ‘please do not kill me’ as I believe technology but especially phones are killing the society that we live in. I wanted the poster to be expressive because if you saw this poster with someone hanging on it, you would be curious to search the translation on the poster.
